@darkwiz666
My mac hasn’t crashed since i got it either, so can’t you just play nice?

MaoiMeowi2 April 28, 2010 at 12:47 am

Correction- Mac<((Windows*10^500)+(Linux*10^500)), Windows = Linux.

TheeGrandmaster April 28, 2010 at 1:13 am

Having a pc is like having a bugatti veyron. If you take care of it, it’s the fucking best.
Maving a mac is like having a tricycle with stablisers.

CORTEZELGANGSTER April 28, 2010 at 1:31 am

linux…SHUT THE FUCK UP!

maw88ify April 28, 2010 at 1:33 am

@643218 My Linux / BSD / Windows PC never gets viruses …

xgplayer April 28, 2010 at 1:53 am

mac better than linux, linux better than windows, windows better than a stone

Poor Linux, at least it can be for stuff to chat to people with linux. (NOT LONELY NOW!)

@thevillage88
my bad, i wasn’t sure if i was understanding you correctly. there is a netbook version of kde, but honestly i wouldn’t bother with it. i use lxde on my netbook and WOW what a difference that makes compared to anything else i’ve used. if you want something light and fast, use lxde and you won’t regret it. but only install it from debian (sid) or arch, the ubuntu version is kinda bad

@darkwiz666 no matter what i do my xp crashes sometimes. i just can’t prevent that from happening.

i support everyone whos about to get a nonmac pc, bc the less people use macs the less viruses target them. and im happy with notsomany viruses =)

(i have a pc for playing. everyone needs one imho:D)

thevillage88 April 28, 2010 at 4:01 am

Do I really have to note sarcasm? I thought the “:P” would have been enough. I could just run over to Frys and pick up the deal of the day for $250 and install Linux on it.

7pulford April 28, 2010 at 4:08 am

@thevillage88 your life savings is $599? ok then, I’m sorry…

thevillage88 April 28, 2010 at 4:31 am

That’s funny, there’s actually a Mac Store across the street from my house. :)
Be sure to change step 1 to “Spend your entire life savings on generic x86 hardware.” :P

Your confusion began when you thought I said “*Gnome* is second to none…” I said “Gnome gives Aqua a run for it’s money,” and “*Linux* is second to none…”. Gnome’s lack of functionality compares well with Mac’s Aqua, and Linux’s advanced functions contrast Mac’s crippled version of *nix.
KDE4 is quite impressive, although it’s a bit too much for my poor netbook so rather than navigating endless menus, I typically find myself opening a terminal window negating any need for using KDE anyway.

7pulford April 28, 2010 at 5:05 am

@thevillage88 its possible to have a decent install of OSX running:
1) Buy a mac.
2) take it home OR wait for it to be delivered
3) unpack it
4) plug it in.
5) sit down on your chair, and start using

tricky, I know, but with just 5 simple steps, you can use a mac.

korndogkorn April 28, 2010 at 5:27 am

well from running all three
it apears to be
that windows is the
one for me :P

but in the end all computers die without maitenance

schmidtbag April 28, 2010 at 5:37 am

@thevillage88
i’d have to agree with most of what you said, but i don’t get what you mean by “second to none for advanced functionality”. keep in mind gnome is really starting to suck; i used to like it and now i almost hate it because its so limiting now, and its getting really heavy. if you want an expert’s desktop environment, use kde4. that offers more built-in features than any os. just after i thought it was good enough, it never ceases to impress me after every significant update

thevillage88 April 28, 2010 at 5:43 am

It’s possible to have a decent install of Windows running:
1) Download firefox to flash drive/CD
2) Back up documents and format
3) Install Windows XP (Yes XP…Leave network unplugged)
4) Install drivers from disc
5) Change proxy to “0.0.0.0″ in Internet Explorer
6) Disable “Messenger Service” in msconfig
7) Install Firefox from flash drive/CD 8) Install “Flashblock” and “Adblock Plus” extensions
9) Make OSSWin Project at Source Forge your new source for Windows apps
10) Have fun!

thevillage88 April 28, 2010 at 6:18 am

Conversely, special hardware shouldn’t be needed for an OS to be installed. For years, Apple boasted how PowerPCs were so much faster than x86′s, when actually, they specialised MacOS for a standardised subset of otherwise generic hardware. The same can be achieved by compiling your own Linux kernel which works with any hardware. Gnome is impressive in it’s own right, and gives Aqua a run for its money in term of ease of use. However, Linux is second to none for its advanced functionality.

uberpwnage223 April 28, 2010 at 7:17 am

linux rapes all othe os’s

EskamoBassist April 28, 2010 at 7:42 am

@killerwhale12120808 As a Mac User Linux fuckin PWNS!!! it!! And believe me I own just about every single Mac product except the iPad, I needs me a camera. lol.

MaoiMeowi2 April 28, 2010 at 8:29 am

Yeah, I’ve had Windows XP since it was released up until last January to upgrade to Windows 7, and XP never crashed.

It seems to me Mac users are just mentally incapable of doing anything.

westboarder April 28, 2010 at 8:50 am

@darkwiz666 I guaranfuckingtee that you’ve had your system resources freeze up and you’ve had to utilize that shitfuck called system resources manager. Which does an excellent job of memory leaking.

RedClownKnight April 28, 2010 at 8:54 am

XP haven’t crash for more like 6 years now.
and Mac Users are fucking upity fanboys

ubcphysicsyangbo April 28, 2010 at 8:54 am

“plug & play” as a street name…lol!
